To honor the legendary, Meryl Streep, 11 drag queens joined forces to celebrate the three-time Oscar winner. Honestly, this is exactly what we needed to end the year right and ring in 2021.
Each queen lipsyncs to different verses of “It’s Not About Me,” from the Netflix original “The Prom.” Additionally, the queens embody various characters from iconic Streep movies.
Check out the video we never knew we needed, below:
To start, Manila Luzon debuts as Dee Dee Allen in The Prom, complete with the red cape and hat. The scene effortlessly transitions to Monique Heart as the fierce Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada. After, trans queen, Dani Kay shines as the charismatic Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia!
The performance continues with Kim Chi as Sister Aloysius Doubt. Next comes Big Dee as Mary Fisher in She-Devil and Jewels as the Iron Lady herself, Margaret Thatcher. Then, Jinkx Monsoon steals the show as Madeleine Ashton in Death Becomes Her.
Queen Vanessa “Vanjie” Mateo channels Julia Child, serving looks in the kitchen. Willam transforms into Sophie from Sophie’s Choice while Valentina embraces Aunt March in Little Women and Delta Work becomes Witch in Into the Woods.
The Prom debuted on Netflix earlier this month, starring Streep, James Corden, Nicole Kidman, Ariana DeBose, Jo Ellen Pellman, and Andrew Rannells.
It follows the story of Broadway star Dee Dee Allen (Streep) as she and fellow down-on-their-luck Broadway actors try and help high-school student Emma win back the right to take her girlfriend to the local prom.
This coming of age musical promises laughs, tears and everything in between. Not to mention the amazing soundtrack!
Meryl Streep is really out here, making these drag queens lip sync for their lives…and we love it!
