A first look at Shea Couleé's Ironheart character in the upcoming MCU miniseries

It’s no secret that Shea Coulee is a powerhouse performer, whether it is onstage in full drag or behind the mic in the recording studio. Now, she’s adding actress to her resume with Marvel’s upcoming Ironheart miniseries.

The plot for the new MCU program follows Riri Williams, who was first introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, as she creates a super suit of armor similar to Tony Stark’s Iron Man technology.

“You will be seeing the diva in some looks,” Couleé promised fans in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, referring to her character, “Slug,” a hacker and major supporting character in the story.

“I help a group of urban Robin Hoods to take away from the privileged and help give back to the community,” Shea said. “I’m there to help out on all the missions that go down, trying to shift this power dynamic in this version of Chicago we see in the show.”

She also revealed that Slug’s character has a past in the drag community, saying, “They are a drag queen, but it’s kind of a past life,” Shea said. “You see them in drag, but it’s kind of in the context of flashbacks before where they are now, because they’re trying to be on the low-low!”

Coulee was ecstatic to share a first look at the upcoming series with her fans via social media and took the time to thank those who had supported her throughout the series.

“This feels so surreal,” Shea wrote under the trailer. “I got goosebumps watching this, and a flood of INCREDIBLE memories from making this series. I’m HELLA proud and grateful for my sis [one of the series’s directors, Sam Bailey] stepping boobs first into the MCU and directing with both her heart and her c***.”

“And to everyone in the “GWORLS” group chat. I love y’all the most. You made my acting debut unforgettable, and I’m glad that I get to experience this with you all.”

Ironheart is set to premiere with its first three episodes on Disney + on 24 June.
