Alexis Stone claims to have posed as Jimy Carrey at the Cesar Awards

Alexis Stone sent the internet into a spiral this week after revealing he body doubled for actor Jim Carrey for the 2026 Cesar Film Awards in France.

“Alexis Stone as Jim Carrey in Paris,” posted the famed drag artist specializing in special effects and celebrity transformations on Monday.

The post included two photos of Carrey at the event, and one image of a mask, teeth, and a dark wig.

Carrey’s last public appearance was back in November 2025 when he helped induct Soundgarden into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Carrey appeared at the ceremony alongside his daughter Jane, his grandson Jackson and his "companion" Min Ah.

“Thank you to my wonderful family, my daughter Jane, and my grandson Jackson. I love you now and forever. Thank you to my sublime companion, Min Ah," he said in French.

His arrival at the French awards show was met with speculation and of everything from plastic surgery allegations to wild Hollywood cloning conspiracy theories.

“QUOTE”

Carrey’s representative made a statement to People and TMZ, saying that the real Jim Carrey “attended the Cesar Awards, where he accepted his honorary Cesar Award.”

Additionally, Gregory Caulier, the general delegate of the awards show noted in a statement to Variety that Carrey’s appearance had been in the works “since this summer.”

While Stone’s claims are unfounded, the idea isn't exactly absurd. The drag artist has a track record of going viral for their uncanny characterizations of celebrities.

In the past, we’ve seen Stone impersonate Donatella Versace, Jack Nicholson, Anna Wintour Jocelyn Wildenstein, Glenn Close and Jennifer Coolidge, among others. Stone even convinced followers they got botched surgery for three months.

Carrey has previously spoken out about the idea of the celebrity image and physical appearance.

“It’s interesting I get asked often about ‘identity’ and whilst I’ve studied individuals physical differences for the last 10 years, as a generalization a majority of us try and emulate other peoples image, style and lifestyles daily,” he wrote on Instagram in 2023.

“Is image really as personal as we think if it can be replicated?”
