All the LGBTQ+ nominations at the 2024 Emmy Awards

The Television Academy has released the full list of nominees for the 2024 Emmy Awards with some major LGBTQ+ content and talent being recognized and we’re breaking down all the big names this year! 

After the Hollywood strikes, organizers were forced the Television Academy to push the 2023 telecast to January of this year.

In order to be eligible for the 2024 Emmys, television programming had to air between June 1, 2023, and May 31, 2024.

Some notable shows with prominent LGBTQ+ storylines include the following: 


RuPaul’s Drag Race


Unsurprisingly, RuPaul’s Drag Race once again swept up the Emmy Awards nominations. The drag competition show was nominated for a total of ten Emmys including outstanding reality competition series. 

RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked was also nominated for outstanding unstructured reality program and picture editing. Meanwhile, RuPaul himself was once again nominated for outstanding reality competition host – the drag superstar already has a record of eight consecutive wins for the category.

 

 

Fellow Travellers

Matt Bomer has earned his second Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Fellow Travellers. His co-star Jonathan Bailey received his first-ever Emmy nomination for Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Tim Laughlin.

Baby Reindeer

This thrilling series up for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. Additionally, Richard Gadd is also nominated for Lead Actor and Writing for the series. Actress Jessica Gunning, who came out this Pride month, is up for Supporting Actress alongside costar Nava Mau.

Red, White and Royal Blue

Starring Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakar- Perez, this queer romantic comedy was nominated for Outstanding Television Movie. 

Other LGBTQ+ identifying actors are also up for awards among the nominee list.  

Andrew Scott was nominated for Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Ripley.

Jodie Foster and her co-star Kali Reis both received their Emmy nominations for HBO’s True Detective: Night Country

Nominated for the first time for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series for Under the Bridge is Lilly Gladstone. 

 

 

 

Tom Hollander earned his first Emmy nomination for playing Truman Capote in Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans.

Hannah Einbinder was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Hacks.

Bowen Yang was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Saturday Night Live.

 

 

 

Holland Taylor has been nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama for playing Cybil Richards in The Morning Show.

Nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Mr. & Mrs. Smith is Sarah Paulson.
