All the LGBTQ+ representation at Coachella 2023

Festival season is finally upon us and kicking it off is the country’s largest music festival, Coachella 2023. This year’s lineup is chock-full of some of the year’s most talented queer music artists—  in fact, almost two dozen performers!

Taking place across two weekends in April in Indio, California, BLACKPINK, Bad Bunny and Frank Ocean have all been announced as headliners. The festivities all go down at the Empire Polo Club for America.

Ocean was originally a headliner for the 2020 season but the event was rescheduled and canceled multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now back for 2023, Ocean will make history as an out, queer artist headlining the iconic festival.

Joining Ocean as a performing LGBTQ+ artist on the festival roster are acts Ashnikko, Boygenius, Christine and the Queens, Doechii, Ethel Cain, Lava La Rue, MUNA, Remi Wolf, Snail Mail, Wet Let, WILLOW, Yungblud, Yves Tumor and 070 Shake.

The coveted musical festival will make history this year with Bad Bunny, who becomes the first Latino artist and first Spanish-language performer to headline. Additionally it is the first year to feature all non-white headliners.

Last year’s festival saw many LGBTQ+ talents take the stage including Phoebe Bridgers, Rina Sawayama, Arlo Parks, Orville Peck, Kim Petras, and Pabllo Vittar.

For those unable to make it to the desert, the festival will also be streaming performances on its official YouTube channel. Coachella 2023 takes place from April 14 to 16 and again from April 21 to 23.
