The 2022 Critics Choice nominees were just announced and with some major nominees coming from the LGBTQ+ community. The Critics Choice Awards are bestowed annually by the Critics Choice Association to honor the finest in cinematic and television achievement.
Here are the incredible queer talent being recognized in this year’s categories:
Devery Jacobs
You may recognize Jacobs from her role on Reservation Dogs. Her work on the show has earned her her very first award nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy Series.
Niecy Nash
Nash received her first Critics Choice award nomination back in 2013. Now she’s back after scoring a nom for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series for Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.
Leslie Jordan
The late and great Leslie Jordan is being honored posthumothously with his first ever Critics Choice nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role on Fox’s Call Me Kat.
Jordan died in a car crash on Oct. 24 after suffering a medical emergency behind the wheel. He was 67.
Andy Cohen
Notable pop culture figure and Bravo’s Real Housewives executive producer, Andy Cohen gaines a nom this year too. He is nominated for his show Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in the Best Talk Show category.
Brandon Scott Jones
Jones is being nominated for his second Critics Choice Award in a row in the Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy series category for the hit tv show Ghosts. He’s nominated for playing a gay Revolutionary War ghost named Captain Isaac Higgintoot.
Murray Bartlett
Bartlett is nominated again in the Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series category after winning last year for his role on The White Lotus. However, this year’s nomination is for playing choreographer Nick De Noia in Welcome to Chippendales.
This year saw a huge influx of LGBTQ+ talent nominated for the Best Comedy Special category. Jerrod Carmichael, Fortune Feimster, Joel Kim Booster and John Early were all nominated for their respected comedy shows.
