Anetra announces break from drag to "heal properly and return to you 100%"

Drag artist Anetra took to her Instagram Stories to apologize for her recent show cancellations and to say she is stepping away from drag temporarily in order to focus on her health.

"This year has been very difficult for me in a lot of areas and there is a lot happening behind the scenes that I'm not ready to speak on at this time," the queen said. "I just need a moment to heal properly and return to you 100%."

She continued her message by writing, ““Please understand I love drag and wish I could be there with you all, but I have reached the point of necessity. This isn’t me quitting, just stepping away for a moment to give my body what it needs.

"Please understand and stop the hate messages. ‘If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell can you love somebody else?’”

Anetra is best known as RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15’s runner-up. She competed among other queens such as Malaysia Babydoll Foxx, Salina Estitties, Sugar and Spice.

The talented queen also went viral for her gag-worthy talent show act that left judges in hysterics. Ultimately, it was Sasha Colby who took home the coveted crown and title that season.

The statement comes after the cancellation of her UK tour titled ‘YOU BETTER WALK THAT F**KING DUCK’ that was due to commence on 20 October in Dublin and travel across nine dates across the UK.
