Caitlyn Jenner says she's a "hypocrite" for accepting 2015 Woman of the Year

While speaking with Tomi Lahren on conservative media platform OutKick, Jenner touched on various topics, including her transition, Trump, and looking back on receiving Glamour’s 2015 Woman of the Year Award—a decision she now calls a “mistake.”
While on the subject of transgender athletes, which she is notoriously against, Jenner says: “It’s not like I want to protect the LGBT community, I want to protect women.”
“It’s not right. So I fought this battle from the Lia Thomas days until today. And I thought, ‘What a hypocrite I am.’ Here I am fighting this battle: biological men out of women’s sports. But back when I came out, what did I accept? Glamour’s Woman of the Year award.”
“What a hypocrite! I’m still XY. Biologically, I’m female. But genetically, I’m still XY. There’s nothing I can do about that. And I’m fine with it. I’m just glad I can wake up in the morning and just be myself.”
Jenner was presented the award that year for presenting her with an award as tribute to her work in transgender awareness and advocacy. It was the same year she publicly came out as a transgender woman.
In 2024, Jenner returned the award via social media posting, “Upon discussion, thought, and reflection, I agree. It’s important to me that I walk the walk, like I have on so many of the issues (minors not being treated for transitioning, and sports- no men in women’s sports) I can no longer in good faith hold onto this award.”
However, there are topics where Jenner believes the country has moved “too far right on,” including passport gender markers and safety regarding public restroom bans.
“I have so many of my friends are just, you know, just gorgeous women,” said Jenner. “Trying to force these people into the men's room. And it's just not right. And it's not safe.”
The 75-year-old expressed frustration upon receiving her documents, identifying her as male. “Now we're going too far to the right, you know, with gender markers,” she said. “What do I do? I can't travel internationally anymore.”
It is an issue she has written to President Donald Trump (whom she voted for in both 2016 and 2024) about, but revealed she has not received any correspondence back.
