Crystal Envy responds to "controversial" lip-sync battle

Drag Race season 17 star Crystal Envy is opening up about her sudden elimination after a controversial lip sync for your life against Lana Ja’Rae.

Both landed in the bottom two after their criticized portrayals on the Snatch Game —Lana Ja’Rae for her Rosa Parks and Crystal Envy for her Nicole Ritchie.

As a result, the two queens duked it out “Lip Sync For Your Life” to Selena Gomez's song “Hands to Myself. ”  The performance saw both queens bumping into each other and Envy crawling between Ja’Rae’s legs to gain a better position on stage.

“I don’t even remember bumping into her. I turned and she was right next to me,” Envy told Entertainment Weekly. “I crawled through her legs because she was blocking me. If you’re going to block me, I’m going to find my light, even if I look like a werewolf (the week’s costume).”

Later, Envy also took to social media to clarify that she didn’t get intentionally get physical with Ja’Rae during the performance and that the actions were all in “playful” fun.

“I’m sorry, but anyone saying I got ‘handsy’ with Lana in our lipsync is delusional. Lana stood in front of ME first, so I found my light by crawling through her legs,” she wrote. “The second time I accidentally bumped her not knowing she was right next to me. Thank u, NEXT.”

“I don’t think my elimination was particularly justifiable. I had a lot more to give and show. If I continued, there were a lot of challenges I would have excelled at,” Envy explained to Entertainment Weekly. “Snatch Game (the episode’s challenge) was the one that I knew would be my rough spot. It’s very hard.”

Envy said while her time on the show felt “extremely cut short,” she had an overall great experience while competing.

“One little mishap and you’re sent packing out the door,” she said.

Envy then apologized to Nicole Richie for her less-than-stellar impersonation of her while on the show.

Don’t hate me, Nicole. I do love you. I do RuPaulogize to Nicole Richie. I’m so sorry. I love you, respect you, and admire you. I was just so nerve-racked in the moment."

Even though Envy didn’t make it further, we are positive this isn't the last we’ve seen of the show-stopping performer.
