Cynthia Lee Fontaine confirms she is alive and well after online death hoax

Cynthia Lee Fontaine is setting the record straight after learning she was  the victim of an online death hoax.

Fontaine took to Instagram to quickly debunk the rumors after a “fanpage” incorrectly announced that the drag artist had passed away from cancer.

“This is absolutely False. Very out of the place this ‘page’ did promoting fake news. Shame on you,” she wrote on social media.

“My apologies to my family, loved ones and Cucu fans for the emotional distress this false posting has created. I’m grateful for all your love and support.”

To her Instagram stories, Fontaine said: “I’m alive and more stronger.” Blasting the fan site as “very irresponsible”, Fontaine said: “This really shows not everyone is a good fan.”

The queen was first introduced to the world after appearing on the eighth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Cynthia would later return to compete on season nine and again on All Stars 10.

Cynthia was diagnosed with stage one liver cancer shortly after filming Season 8, and eventually entered remission.

“My heart sank so much when I saw this. I thought it was real. Why do people do this? They need some serious help,” wrote one Reddit user.

Another commented: “This is so disgusting. There was a similar page that had a similar post about Onya. Facebook is a fucking cesspool.”
