'Dear Viv" documentary celebrates the life of The Vivienne

World of Wonder plans to produce a new documentary celebrating the life of Drag Race UK star The Vivienne. The production company behind the internationally popular Drag Race franchise released a statement announcing the upcoming project.

"We want to celebrate Vivienne's extraordinary life and work so everyone can experience her incredible talent, sass, and enormous heart," said World of Wonder co-founders and executive producers Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey.

"Although her stay here on Earth was far too brief, it is with tremendous admiration and affection that we share her legacy in Dear Viv," they added.

It will feature archive footage and intimate interviews with loved ones who have given producers their blessing to continue with the project.  Fellow Drag Race contestants, including Baga Chipz, Michael Marouli, and Danny Beard, are said to be lined up to be a part of the special project.

James Lee Williams, who won the first series of RuPaul's Drag Race UK, died aged 32 in January. The world was shocked at the news of Vivienne’s sudden passing

The Liverpool-based queen won the show’s inaugural UK series season 17. She later returned to compete in All-Stars 7. Outside of the reality franchise, The Vivienne scored a starring role as the Wicked Witch of the West in a West End production of The Wizard of Oz.

The announcement of the documentary comes as The Vivienne was recently honored at the first Metro Pride Awards. The star’s manager, Simon Jones, father Lee, and sister Chanel accepted the award.

“When he was nominated for a Metro award for Rising Star this year, he was honoured and made up to be here. So while it is extremely bittersweet to be here tonight, we know this would have meant the world to him,” said Jones.
