Dear Viv trailer features heartfelt tributes from fellow drag stars

Drag Race fans got a sneak peek at the upcoming documentary celebrating the life of The Vivienne. The film titled Dear Viv centers on the Drag Race UK winner’s rise to fame as well as their struggles with substance abuse.

Vivienne tragically passed away in January 2025 at age 32 of cardiac arrest due to ketamine complications.

They are best known for being the first winner of Drag Race UK, a contestant on All Stars 7, and the first drag queen to ever compete on Dancing on Ice, and more.

The first trailer for Dear Viv features never-before-seen clips of the star’s work, and interviews with The Vivienne’s loved ones and fellow queens like Raja, Danny Beard, Michael Marouli, Cheryl Hole, Tia Kofi, Baga Chipz, and others.

At DragCon UK, RuPaul addressed The Vivienne’s death to attendee’s saying: “She would love for you to live your lives, to be free, to have a lot of fun and to spread it around.”

Drag Race UK season one queens helped honor Vivienne, and a memorial booth was set up for fans to leave messages and farewells. It was that outpouring of support in the wake of her passing that World of Wonder knew they had to keep Viv’s legacy alive.

“We called it ‘Dear Viv,’ and the outpouring, what people wrote on the wall and in the book, was just so moving and powerful,” WOW co-founder Fenton Bailey told THR. “It was like, we’ve got to document this.”

The Vivienne’s family also announced a weekly support group in their honor. House of the Vivienne is a new drug and alcohol addiction center in Colwyn Bay led by their sister Chanel Williams.

“James would want you to know you matter, your life matters, and there is help. There is always hope,” she told the BBC.

Dear Viv premieres globally on WOW Presents Plus starting August 28.
