Discord Addams clears up season 18 disqualification rumors

Rumors ran rampant on social media earlier this year about a queen from an upcoming season of Drag Race potentially being asked to leave the competition. The queen in question was Discord Addams from the just announced Drag Race season 18.

Gossip claims the reason for her departure range from bad behavior with the other queens to unearthed racist comments from years ago. However, the rumors have gone unfounded.

Fans of the show were more than confused to see Discord’s name in the upcoming trailer after rumblings of the alleged incident. After news of the cast being released, Addams took the ramblings head on in an interview with Entertainment Weekly

"There's a rumor going around right now that I'm disqualified from this season. Like, we're not even having this conversation right now. I'm not even here," the entertainer says, before joking about what “allegedly” happened on set.

“Here’s what happened. RuPaul found that tweet from Shea, realised that I’m an awful, terrible racist and then disqualified me from the season, and I’m edited out,“ she continued, doubling down that the rumors are just that—rumours.

The Boston queen went on to say, “There’s a rumour that I got into a fist fight over an eyelash curler. There’s a rumour that RuPaul disqualified me. There are so many fun ones happening right now. And I think it all stemmed from that tweet… I don’t even know if it’s real.“

Other queens have also discounted the ongoing gossip. Fellow season 18 queen Jane Don't appeared on Mistress Isabelle Brooks latest video.

“She had controversy already with her being gone,” Brooks says to Don’t.

“Yeah, it was very bizarre, we came back into the real world and everyone was like ‘Discord is disqualified,” Don’t said. “But, in fact, she is not.”

RuPaul’s Drag Race season 18 is scheduled to premiere on 2 January with 90-minute episodes. Meet the rest of the new queens here
