Drag queen beauty tips to steal this summer

Big hair, luscious lips and glitter galore are just some of the things that come to mind when thinking of drag queen beauty. But the hours-long routine to get ready is not as easy as our beloved queens make it seem. Luckily, we've gathered some helpful drag queen beauty tips to try out for all your special outings this summer!

Don't sleep on the face tape

Think of this tool as plastic surgery without the procedure! “It gives a little pull without going under the knife and it just snatches you up a little bit,” drag queen Alyssa Edwards told Us Magazine when asked about her makeup bag.

“Recently, I started exploring face tape, which I’ve never done before. I still look in the mirror and feel like I am 24 again even though I’m not thanks to this face tape,” she explained to readers.

The result? A face snatched for the gods!

Freeze your face with a bottle of hair spray

We love a 2-in-1 beauty hack. Not only will hair spray hold your luscious locks, but its also a great dupe for setting spray too.

"The best beauty trick I’ve ever seen is spraying hair spray over your makeup for an extra setting finish," Gia Gunn said in an interview.

For the record, this is one of those classic drag queen beauty tips. One this is also extremely handy, especially if you're in a pinch and you forgot your makeup setting spray! However, make sure to moisturize before as it can be a bit drying.

Glide on lip balm at the start of your makeup routine

In an interview with Vouge Paris, the season 12 'Drag Race' alum Nicky Doll shared her beauty hacks. And when the Parisian Princess herself gives us beauty tips, we take notes!

According to Nicky by swiping on a layer of lip balm at the start of your routine, it allows more time for the oils to seep into the lips. Thus, resulting in more nourished and soft kisser! It's an incredible technique for the perfect pout primer!

When in doubt, throw on a fun lash

What's a drag queen without their fabulous set of faux lashes? In fact, one of Kim Chi's favorite makeup tips is to apply lash glue just past the lash line strip of your falsie. As a result, the lash sits upright and gives you a doe-eyed illusion to your look.

Otherwise, your eyes might wind up looking sleepy or droopy.

But, drinking water is the most important step in the beauty routine

In an interview with the Guardian, Courtney Act adamantly believes drinking enough water is the key to a flawless base.

"It sounds like a cliche, but good makeup starts with good skin," Act said. "The best makeup tip is to drink water – not just while you put your makeup on, but generally. It plumps up your skin and makes it glow."

Not only is this important now, but especially as the weather starts to heat up with summer around the corner.
