Drag Race crew member and Emmy-nominated songwriter Gabe Lopez passes away

Singer, songwriter, and producer Gabe Lopez has passed away and many Drag Race faves are paying tribute to the young artist.
In a statement shared on her son's official Instagram account, the songwriter's mother, Connie Howard, confirmed that her son passed on Sunday.
"We the family are heartbroken to lose our deeply loved Gabe and cannot imagine life without his joy and laughter, his generous love and sincere kindness," Howard continued.
"Gabe has so many wonderful people in his life. This is a deeply felt loss for all of us but Gabe would want everyone to cherish the good memories and hold him forever in our hearts."
According to the statement, Lopez passed after a "brief but intense battle with lymphoma,” a form of cancer of the lymph nodes.
World of Wonder, Drag Race production company also shared their own tribute to their members passing.
"We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Gabe Lopez. Gabe was a unique combination of musical brilliance, kindness and sharp wit. His impact — through RuPaul’s Drag Race & beyond — is immeasurable.”
“We mourn a great talent and a greater friend. His melodies play on in all of us."
Lopez’s talents earned him an Emmy nomination for his work mixing sound for the 2023 musical "Wigloose: The Rusical!", which is based on the classic film Footloose.
Additionally, Lopez worked on Queen of the Universe, and the hit tv movie, The Bitch Who Stole Christmas.
Many queens of the franchise took to social media to send condolences and share tributes to Lopez and his incredible work.
"Devastating to hear, sending so much love- he was a true gem," wrote Drag Race UK vs. the World season 1 winner Blu Hydrangea.
“An incredible talent,” Derrick Barry wrote. “His contributions to the Drag Race Live soundtrack in Las Vegas will continue to be celebrated nightly.”
