Drag Race movie receives official name and premiere date

Fans of the cult drag competition show are getting a big update on the film set to release on May 29, 2026.

RuPaul is set to star as President Gagwell in action comedy caper Stop! That! Train!. The film is the first of its kind and is being hailed as the first movie in the Drag Race cinematic universe. 

RuPaul himself calls his character "the part I was born to play," RuPaul wrote in a statement. "Finally, a role I can sink my dentures into."

 

 

 


Even more, it was previously announced some major names would be making appearances in the film. Ginger,  alongside fellow four-time Drag Race contestant Jujubee  will serve as BFF's and train attendees aboard the Glamazonian Express.

Drag Race winner Symone, Canada’s Drag Race host Brooke Lynn Hytes, and Cabaret actor Marcia Marcia Marcia will play  first class attendants on the Glamazonia Express.

Meanwhile, Drag Race icons including All Stars 4 winner Monet X Change and season four competitor Latrice Royale will also star in roles still unknown. 

 

 

Adam Shankman, known for directing musicals like Hairspray (2007) and Rock of Ages (2012) and blockbusters like A Walk to Remember (2002), The Pacifier (2025), and Disney’s Disenchanted (2022). 

World of Wonder co-founders Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato wrote:

"Drag queens in charge of America's first-ever hyperspeed, transcontinental, non-denominational bullet train. What could possibly go wrong? What the world needs now is a disaster movie so twisted it will blow your mind. We are delighted to welcome Bleecker Street and everyone aboard the most bonkers train in cinematic herstory."
