Drag Race UK's Graham Norton to host "Queen of the Universe" singing competition

It looks like Drag Race fans will have another binge-worthy show to obsess over! Even more, Graham Norton, the popular late-night chat show host, is gearing up to host!

The Irish idol, who regularly appears on RuPaul's Drag Race UK, is collaborating with the production company World of Wonder for Queen of the Universe, an international singing show that promises "high heels, high octaves [and] high competition" that will blow its audiences' wigs off.

However, the role is nothing new for Norton. Not only does he share judging duties with Alan Carr on 'RuPaul's Drag Race UK' for the past three seasons, he's also been hosting the 'Eurovision Song Contest' every May for the BBC since 2009.

‘Queen of the Universe” is described as a Eurovision-style competition and will see countries go head to head, nominating their top drag queens to compete and pinning singing chops against eachother.

It was first introduced to the public back in February. But now more details have been confirmed with an official announcement in Variety magazine.

"With 'Queen of the Universe,' we are going global as we create the first annual international singing competition to finally answer the question which country has the best drag queen," said President of MTV Entertainment Chris McCarthy (per Futon Critic), while announcing the "All Stars" series' move to Paramount+.

According to Variety, the idea for the show was inspired by Conchita Wurst's Eurovision win back in 2014, when she stunned viewers with her song 'Rise Like a Phoenix.

More specific details of the show are still pending confirmation. Whether competing queens will be former contestants of Drag Race or if the contest may also be open to all drag stars of world, it’s still unknown.

The show is scheduled to premiere on the company's streaming service Paramount Plus on Thursday, December 2. In the meantime, Drag Race UK season 3 will have to hold fans over.
