The chisme on the street is that a new Drag Race spin-off is coming to screens very soon. WOW Presents Plus has announced that the latest series to be added to the rapidly growing Drag Race universe is Drag Race Mexico vs The World: Latina Royale.
“World of Wonder is proud to continue spotlighting the many cultures which shape global drag, and celebrate Latin artistry with Drag Race Mexico: Latina Royale,” WOW co-founders Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement.
News of the Mexican iteration comes on the heels of success from Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale, which debuted as one of the most-watched premieres in the franchise’s history. The season has just concluded, with Bridging crowned as its winner.
While it is still too early for details on the host and casting for the upcoming spin-off, it is expected to follow the same format as the “Slaysian Royale” program, according to the official description.
“Following the twist on the vs the World format established with Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale, Drag Race Mexico: Latina Royale will see Latin queens from across the international Drag Race universe in a global battle for the crown.”
Additionally, Drag Race Mexico was greenlit for a third season. The current co-hosts of Drag Race Mexico are Drag Race France star Lolita Banana and Queen of the Universe winner Taiga Brava.
