Drag Race's Q and Plane Jane to appear on Project Runway

Drag Race's Q and Plane Jane to appear on Project Runway

It seems the queens are taking over Project Runway! RuPaul’s Drag Race season 16 queens Q and Plane Jane have been confirmed to appear on the popular fashion design competition show.

Q, who placed fourth on her run on Drag Race, will compete as one designer on the upcoming season of Project Runway out of drag and under their name, Robert Severson.

During her run on the hit drag competition series, Q received high praise for her runway creations on the Drag Race Main Stage. Fans and judges were left gagged with nearly all her looks, from her RuVeal Yourself Butterfly garment to her I Can Buy Myself Flowers ensemble.

Boston-based queen Plane Jane is also said to appear on the design competition show, though her Project Runway role remains

Jane originally placed third on season 16 before a short stint on E!'s House of Villains show.

The two queens shared a bonding moment on Drag Race when Q revealed her HIV status in a poignant moment in the season. The runway category was “Flashback Drag Con 1980!” and Q based her look on those lost to the HIV/AIDS pandemic prevalent in the 80s and 90s.

“I have also been HIV positive for like two years now,” said Q to Plane Jane while discussing the upcoming challenge.

“When I first got my diagnosis, I felt like… I felt, like, really lost and, like, I was super alone… you know people have said, like, really awful, nasty things to me and almost, like, dehumanized me.

But, like, I’m here, I’m on Drag Race, like, I know I’m living my dreams and I know I have a loving husband that really supports and loves me no matter what.”

News of Q and Plane Jane's casting comes after Drag Race season 13 queen Utica competed on Project Runway season 21 last year under their real name Ethan Mundt.

Mundt made it far in the competition, proving they could serve more than just camp and drag. Ultimately, Mundt placed runner-up at the season finale.

While fans are still awaiting a Project Runway season 22 premiere date, it has been confirmed that Heidi Klum returns as host. Christian Siriano returns as mentor, with Nina Garcia and Law Roach as judges.
