It looks like Santa Claus came early this year and gifted us exciting new details about the upcoming season of RuPaul’s Drag —including the cast of queens set to compete in season 17.
The queens of Season 17 will begin entering the Werk Room as they fight to join last season’s winner, Nymphia Wind in the Drag Race Hall of Fame and become America's Next Drag Superstar.
Here’s a look at the 14 queens diving head-first into the competition this season!
Acacia Forgot
This honky-tonk queen is changing the game as one of the franchise’s first country music queens. Not only is she bringing musical talent, but her style is just as striking. Trust you won't forget this queen!
Acacia says she thinks “It’s time for a live musician to win the crown and take drag to places drag is not going.”
Arrietty
Hailing from Seattle, Washington, Arrietty is a fantasy queen. It’s safe to say she loves to have fun with drag and go the extra mile to stand out among the crowd.
“I have a different eye for drag,” Arrietty says in her Meet the Queens. “And b*tches around me are always mad. Dropping like flies.”
Crystal Envy
This Jersey queen has been experimenting with drag since she was 13 years old. We think her background as Miss Paradise pageant winner will give her an edge in the competition.
“I just knew I was always gonna be the most sickening b**** in the room and everyone always envy’s me,” Crystal said in her introduction.
Hormona Lisa
Rumour has it, that RuPaul hand-picked Hormona Lisa while on his book tour for The House of Hidden Meanings and personally invited the queen to Drag Race. She describes her style as Old Hollywood glamour meets Disney princess.
“Im probably the best one (in Chattanooga) in every way, especially in looks!”
Jewels Sparkles
Jewel has come to serve pretty and shiny, just like a diamond! However, this gem has edges sharp enough to cut and knows how to blind an audience with her brilliance.
“But over time, you’ve got to get the whole package… If you’re not calling an ambulance after a drag show in Tampa, you’re not doing it right," she said in her intro.
Joella
Los Angeles diva queen, Joella, is a true trendsetter and so is her drag artistry. “The kind of drag I do is classic drag with a modern twist," says Joella. "I'm a more is more queen and I do drag to survive."
"I demand to be respected."
No doubt about it, mama Joella is mothering this season!
Kori King
Truly a one of a kind queen, Kori isn't her to take names, she's here to make a name for herself! It's clear she lives for the art and we hope to see it shine through during her competition tasks.
“I do drag for entertainment and payment,” said Kori. “I am doing things that no queen does any more!.. I want to entertain the crowd.”
Lana Ja’Rae
New York queen Lana isn't new to the drag game and has no time for pettiness. Instead, she has her eye on the crown! If another queen acts up, she say's she'll let her talent do the talking
“I consider myself to be extremely competitive,” says Lana. “And if another queen wants to fight, we can lipsync it out,” she adds.
Lexi Love
She’s giving body and a show! Lexi describes her style as a “hardcore entertainer z– but I want to make sure that I tell you a story. I need you to feel a climax.”
We expect to see some grade A lipsyncs and wild Werk Room shenanigans from this knockout queen.
Lucky Starzzz
We are counting our lucky stars to see this Florida queen in action! Not only is she giving us character, she is also promising to serve some spunk if another queen decides to play with her.
“I’m a venus fly trap in a room full of roses,” says Starzzz. “Don’t get too close, because I might bite!”
Lydia Kollins
Larger-than-life queen Lydia Kollins says she is anything but boring! Since she went to film school, Lydia describes her drag style as “viewed from the lens of movie making” and cites movie makers John Waters, Tim Burton and David Lynch as a source of inspiration.
We cant wait to see the creative side of Lydia come out this season!
Onya Nurve
All the way from Cleveland is Onya Nerve. This stage queen says, “I would consider my drag a mix of drama, theatre and art, sprinkled on top of blackness and glamour.”
But don’t get it twisted! Onya promises to “swiftly” and “cleanly” put a queen in her place if they dare hit a nerve.
Sam Star
This self-proclaimed “supermodel of the South” is gearing up to bring all the charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent this season to get her the crown.
“I would say I’m the most competitive girl in this competition,” Sam claims in her Meet the Queens intro. “If there’s money and a crown on the line… I’ve got plenty of friends, girl.”
Suzie Toot
“I see the crown, I want it, and I am going to get it, warns Suzie Toots.
This Florida queen isn’t afraid to fight her way to the top of the competition. Her confidence alone makes her one to look out for this season!
RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 will premiere on WOW Presents Plus and MTV on January 3, 2025.
