HBO's "We're Here" snags two early Emmy Awards ahead of the big night

The Television Academy has announced early winners to this year’s 75th annual Emmy Awards for the juried categories in animation, costume, hair styling, makeup, and motion design. And your fave series We're Here just took home two awards!

The third season of HBO’s We’re Here were among the early winners.

One award was given to the team for Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Nonfiction, or Reality Programming category. The Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Hairstyling for a Variety, Nonfiction, or Reality Program was also awarded to the series.

Series co-creator Johnnie Ingram posted to social media to celebrate the news! He wrote: “Waking up to 2 Emmy WINS!!! Congrats to our Hair and Wardrobe team.”

“We’re Here” follows three drag queens traveling to rural cities across America. While there, the queens take an in-depth look at the local political systems and participants, anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and opposition, and what that means for the local queer community.

In the awarded season of the show, former “RuPaul’s Drag Race” contestants Bob the Drag Queen, Eureka O’Hara, and Shangela came to town; they recruited local members of the LGBTQ+ community to perform in a drag show; the locals told their stories; and there was a lot of love and support.

This year, however, HBO announced a shakeup to the main cast of queens in the series. The upcoming season of  We’re Here will now be hosted by Jaida Essence Hall, Sasha Velour, Latrice Royale, and Priyanka.

The formal awards ceremony for the remaining categories will be held on Jan. 6 and Jan. 7, at the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live. An edited telecast will air on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 8 p.m. ET on FXX.
