How celebs are reacting to Candace Cameron Bure's remarks on "traditional marriage"

Earlier this year, Candace Cameron Bure revealed she would be leaving the Hallmark Channel and joining the Christian-centered Great American Family channel. Her reasoning, however, is not sitting right with some audiences.

In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Bure explained her departure had to do with Hallmark becoming a “completely different network than when I started because of the change of leadership.”

In 2020, Hallmark’s CEO Bill Abbott stepped away from the company after backlash over a ad featuring a same-sex couple. Abbott now runs Great American Family channel with Bure serving as Chief Creative Officer.

Bure continued to say that her new partnership with the channel would not include holiday movies centering on LGBTQ romance.

"I knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment," Candace said.

Bure’s comments have landed her in some hot water and fellow stars are not holding back their thoughts on the matter.

Actress Hilarie Burton was one of the first to call out the former ‘Full House’ stars' words.

"Now they're just openly admitting their bigotry. I called this s--- out years ago when Abbott was at Hallmark. Glad they dumped him. Being LGBTQ isn't a 'trend'. That guy and his network are disgusting,” Burton tweeted.

“You too Candy. There is nothing untraditional about same-sex couples.”

Meanwhile, ‘Dance Mom’s’ star abd ‘‘So You Think You Can Dance” judge Jojo Siwa also had some choice words about Bure’s statement.

“Honestly, I can't believe after everything that went down just a few months ago, that she would not only create a movie with intention of excluding LGBTQIA+, but then also talk about it in the press. This is rude and hurtful to a whole community of people."

Siwa who has identified as queer since January 2021 and had a very public feud with Cameron Bure this past summer when she called Bure the “rudest” celebrity she had ever met in a TikTok.

Bure’s former co-star Jodie Sweetin commented in support of Jojo’s tweet writing, “"You know I love you ❤️❤️"

Maddie Ziegler wrote, "Go off jojo!!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️"

Alyssa Milano thanked Siwa for “being a positive role model for my kids.”

Makeup guru Patrick Starrr referenced a public back-and-forth between Cameron Bure and Siwa over the summer: "Omggggg after everything y'all went thruuuuu!!! NOOOO MAMMM!"
