Just in time for Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Drag Race recently teased some new info about the upcoming season of Philippines, including news that Jiggly Caliente will serve as a judge!
The news was announced at DragCon LA 2022 when Caliente gave attendees a preview of the upcoming season of Drag Race Philippines.
On Instagram, Jiggly also shared just how excited she is for the new opportunity, writing, “If you would have asked me five years ago if I would ever be a judge on a [RuPaul’s Drag Race] franchise let alone be part of for my home land the Philippines I would have told you to stop doing drugs because they would never entrust me with such a responsibility.”
“I also believe in the talent, beauty, and tenacity of the culture of the Filipino people. I'm excited to show the universe @dragraceph,” The Phillippine native continued to write in her post.
“Set your calendars to Aug 17. You're in for an amazing ride. I couldn't be more excited for you to meet the cast the other judges and the HOST.”
Jiggly, who came out as trans in 2016, was first introduced to the RuPaul’s Drag Race fandom during her time on season four. She later returned to the werkroom for a chance at the All Stars 6 crown but ultimately went home in the first episode.
Since then, she has taken her acting chops to other projects, including starring as Veronica Ferocity on the FX series Pose.
Jiggly Caliente is now the third Drag Race queen to move from contestant to the judging panel. Others include Brooke Lynn Hytes on Canada's Drag Race and Nicky Doll, who is set to host and judge the upcoming Drag Race France.
