Jiggly Caliente to be inducteed to the National LGBTQ+ Wall of Honor

A press release from the National LGBTQ Task Force recently announced this year’s inductees to the National LGBTQ+ Wall of Honor. Jiggly Caliente is one of the names being honored, and this comes after the drag star's tragic passing.

In addition to Caliente, the other honorees are Sam Nordquist, Lynn Conway, Ruddys Martinez, Chilli Pepper, Dr. Alan L. Hart, and Lady Chablis. They will be inducted into the Wall of Honor in a ceremony on June 26 to help celebrate New York Pride.

Those being celebrated this year are a part of an all-trans class of figures, which comes amid a time of political tension among the transgender community.

The memorial wall in Greenwich Village, located inside the legendary Stonewall Inn, is dedicated to LGBTQ “pioneers, trailblazers, and heroes."

“This year’s focus on transgender trailblazers and changemakers underscores the importance of recognizing our history and the current climate for our trans siblings,” stated Cathy Renna, communications director of the National LGBTQ Task Force.

“As we continue to fiercely battle against attacks on our trans and non-binary communities, we are honored to uplift their legacies. Their courage inspires our ongoing fight for liberation, both within the task force family and across every queer advocacy organisation.”

Caliente passed away on April 27, her family confirmed, just three days after being admitted to the hospital for a “severe infection.” Since then, friends and family have been sending in heartfelt tributes to Jiggly’s family.
