Kennedy Davenport's birthday show faces backlash over this queen's involvement

Kennedy Davenport announced a birthday show with a stellar roster of performers. But what was supposed to be a festive event turned sour after backlash to news of one queen participating in the occasion.
Some major names were set to appear at the big event, including Alexis Mateo, Latrice Royale, Ra’Jah O’Hara, Morgan McMichaels and Bosco.
Davenport also included Shangela in the list of performers. This has led to a severe reaction from fans and fellow queens after the drag artist's sexual assault allegations were revealed in a 2023 Rolling Stones investigation.
Shangela (real name Darius Pierce) was the subject of a shocking expose that alleged she sexually assaulted an assistant on the HBO hit show We’re Here while he was inebriated. Several others came forward in the article with similar accusations. The most recent allegation against Shangela came in 2025.
Shangela has denied all allegations of assault, calling them “totally untrue” and insisting that they “perpetuate damaging stereotypes.” Additionally, the drag artist has not been charged with any of the alleged assaults.
Now queens are dropping out of the celebration upon news of Shangela’s involvement, though most did not reveal the reasons for their departure from the billing directly.
“I want to address my decision to step away from an upcoming event,” Morgan McMichaels wrote on X.
“When I agreed to participate, I was not aware of [the casting of the event. Once I learned, the decision to step away was a natural and immediate one for me, as my participation no longer aligned with my values.”
She concluded, clarifying that her decision “is not rooted in hate or a desire to create negativity. It is simply important to me that the spaces and events I choose to be a part of reflect the values I stand for.”
Meanwhile, Bosco also revealed she will “no longer be appearing in Dallas in September.” Ms Kaha Davis similarly posted to X, “I removed myself from the show. I will not be appearing in Dallas.

In a since deleted tweet, one social media user initially suggested replacing Shangela. Davenport replied, “I aint replacing a damn thing.”
However, early Wednesday morning, All Stars 11 queen A’Keria C. Davenport said Kennedy Davenport had agreed to a replacement but declined to name Shangela in her social post.
“When I was asked by my aunt to be apart of her bday celebration that’s all I knew,” Davenport wrote. “After further discussion she made the decision to remove the person from the line up.”
