King of Drag gets officially green-lit for season 2

Following the success of its first season, King of Drag has officially announced that it will see a season 2!

“Somebody Somewhere,” star Murray Hill hosted the very season, bringing to life all the crazy shenanigans of the competition. The program included some amazing guest celebrity appearances from Drag Race faves like Gottmik, Carmen Carrera, Sasha Velour, and Kylie Sonique Love.

Stars Lisa Rinna, Landon Cider, Jackie Beat, Cole Escola and Paul Feig also helped surprise the kings.

Similar to season one, e.l.f. Cosmetics will present the competition as a sponsor, which will feature ten new kings taking center stage and sharing their talents with the world. Those cast will undergo exciting creative challenges and critiques from a panel of judges.

The show’s mission remains the same: “to bring focus to the overlooked talents, artistry, and cultural impact of drag kings — performers who often hail from the lesbian, trans masc, nonbinary, and queer communities,” Revry said in a press release.

“With unique performance challenges designed to test each king’s originality and showmanship (from clown comedy to horror and more), the series celebrates masculinity, performance, and artistic storytelling.”

The inaugural season proved to be a major hit with 32 million views and remains the only competition series to celebrate the artistry of drag kings. The series also secured two 2026 Queerty Awards nominations.

Last year, King Molasses from Washington, D.C. took home the grand prize and even made OUT Magazine’s 2025 Out 100 list.

While casting auditions are officially underway, we will likely see its return as early as this fall.
