After sharing some ominous posts to social media teasing a comeback, Lala Ri is now confirming a return to drag after leaving the medium in late 2024.
Now, Lala Ri says he is “dusting the heels off and returning back to the stage.”
Ri tells Out: "After a period of rest and reflection, I realized my heart is the most full when I'm performing in drag surrounded by the love and energy of the community that has always lifted me up. I see it as sense of revival, restoring life back into my drag and awakening it with new energy."
Ri also cited the importance of drag entertainment amid today’s political shifts.
He adds, "Also, due to the current political climate, we need joy now more than ever — one thing that my drag has always brought."
To do this, the season 13 Miss Congenality winner has announced a series of events that she created called, Rivival set to take place over the summer.
Ri described the slated events with "the energy of underground raves, the pulse of queer nightlife, and the spectacle of live music performances into an electrifying experience."
LaLa Ri was beloved by fans for his unforgettable performances, lip-syncs, and fashion moments (and fails). Who could forget her infamous “Bag Ball” fashion look?
After Ri’s first run on Drag Race, he then returned to the franchise for All-Stars 8. In November 2024, Lala let fans know he was “leaving the drag behind” to focus on other outlets.
His decision to retire last year initially shocked fans. But we speculated something was on the horizon after Lala recently posted a string of hints to followers: “Y’all favorite homegirl will be back in a couple of months,” he wrote. “She just needed to be revived.”\
The Drag Race star also posted on X, writing both “Sometimes you just need a good break,” and “RIVIVED” in separate posts.
We can’t wait to see Lala’s revival in the drag scene!
