Season 17 finalist Lexi Love has announced a break from drag as she checked herself into a rehabilitation center.
“For all you curious cats,” Lexi wrote. “I was brave enough to take my Mental, Psycical and Emotional health serious for the first time ever.
“I am in rehab and will be gone for a while. Y’all better get ready for what’s coming!”
“I Lexi Love you; even that [sic] HATERS,” she concluded the statement posted to her social media accounts.
Love made a name for herself on season 17 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, where she tied for third place with Sam Star.
The season 17 finalist entered a 30-day rehab program at a Texas facility for substance abuse treatment and emotional therapy, as confirmed to her manager and friend, TJ Liedel, to Entertainment Weekly.
“We’re extremely proud of the courage she has to face publicly, and to be a representative for so many in the community.”
Lexi opened up about her past addiction to methamphetamines on the show. However, Liedel says meth is not a reason why Lexi is recieving treatment.
Liedel continued, “Unfortunately, people demonize these things, but the only way we can get better about it is to be public, share stories, and actively work toward healthier, happier times. We appreciate the support of everyone. Know that Lexi appreciates everyone in their support, and she will be back soon. We Lexi Love you.”
Lexi previously announced a break from performing just days after the season 17 finale to prioritize her mental health.
“This journey isn’t one I can take alone,” she writes. “I know I’ll need help, guidance, and grace along the way — and I’m so grateful to have the love and support of this incredible community behind me.”
We are wishing Lexi Love all the best!
