Lexi Love is stepping up for LGBTQ+ health amid Trump's harmful executive orders

Amid the Trump administration's recent legislation, the trans queen took to Instagram, announcing she’s HIV-positive and highlighting vital information for others with similar medical needs.

“My health and well being as an entertainer is at risk now,” Lexi penned after HIV information was pulled from the official White House website after Trump’s inauguration.

“I am personally affected by this stance and will work to use this new platform to not only find resources for myself but those who I am connected to socially and here! I’m so sorry everyone! This is hard and it’s frustrating and it’s insulting.”

Love is best known for competing on season 17 of RuPaul's Drag Race.

When a comment in her post seemingly tried to discredit the website’s convenience, Love quickly shared just how much the information came to her aid.

“I actually utilized the government-funded program for over 10 years and it’s the only reason I am alive today,” she responded.

In a separate post, Love expressed concern about the lack of knowledge about queer health.

“My heart is broken for the lack of education surrounding HIV protection in our community; I really did not think that I would have to explain myself like this today but it seems appropriate and necessary,” she captioned a screenshot of the conversation she had with the commenter.

Love’s statement comes amid a time of uncertainty for many as Donald Trump’s transition to the White House was quick to begin targeting marginalized communities such as LGBTQ+ and immigrants.

Trump's latest executive order prohibits federal funding and government support for gender-affirming care for transgender minors and young adults. Specifically, it restricts the use of puberty blockers, hormone therapies, and surgeries for anyone under 19.

A previous executive order coming from the new administration stated only binary male and female genders would be recognized by the government.

As a result of the anti-LGBTQ+ policies, Love wrote an open message to trans youth in collaboration with Out.

"Be kind to yourselves; remember others' opinions and points of view surrounding your gender identity or expression do not define you… you define you. Now, more than ever, just as you need me, we all need you too! We are stronger together and we cannot forget that in these pivotal moments. I, Lexi, love you!"
