New trailer for 'Secret Celebrity Drag Race' gives fans some celebrity contestant hints

The second season of the highly anticipated RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race is right around the corner.

While gearing up for the premiere this week, a new trailer was released, giving fans some major insight into not only the celebs competing for this season but also the dynamic into the huge twist this season.

What’s the major twist you might ask? The celebrities’ identities will remain a secret until they have been eliminated from the competition.

Nine celebrity contestants have been chosen to compete this season. Each will anonymously compete in weekly lip sync extravaganzas until the bottom two lip sync for their lives at the end of the episode.

"I live to be on stage," one star gives the viewers a hint in the new trailer.”

"People have always known who I am. I can't hide," a hidden celeb says. "So assuming a new identity is really exciting for me."

"This is going to shock the hell out of everybody!" joked another queen.

In addition to the secret celebrity competition format, the show is also upping the grand prize. As a result, this season’s competitors are vying for a chance at $100,000 to be donated toward a charity of their choice.

Fans were quick to compare the new mystery format to shows such as the Masked Singer and The Voice where the judges can’t physically see the contestant.

Amid the new drag personas onstage, some familiar faces will also make appearances. Aside from the permanent panel of judges with RuPaul, Michele Visage, Carson Kressley, and Ross Matthews, a few ‘Drag Race legends will assist the celebs on their drag transformation journey.

Queens like Monét X Change, Jujubee, and Brooke Lynn Hytes will serve as mentors and guides to the newly established queens to the baby queens.

Other “extra special guests” include Eureka, Gottmik, Katya, Morgan McMichaels, Silky Nutmeg Ganache, and Violet Chachki.

The first season of RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race featured stars performing in drag like Vanessa Williams, comedian Phoebe Robinson and Schitt's Creek star Dustin Milligan.

RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race premieres Friday, August 12, on VH1, but in the meantime, check out the newly released season trailer here.
