Nicky Doll set to host first season of 'Drag Race France'

Nicky Doll has been cast as host for the upcoming season of "Drag Race France."

“I’m honored and thrilled to be the mistress of ceremonies of this emblematic show, which is going to revolutionize French drag and give prominence to incredible queer artists! So, start your engines, and may the best drag queen…win!” Nicky said in a statement.

The French queen originally competed on season 12 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Ultimately, Nicky finished in 10th place after losing to Heidi N Closet in a lip-sync to "Heart to Break" by Kim Petras.

Since her run on “Drag Race,” Nicky has remained closely involved with the franchise, even being booked by RuPaul in 2020 to do Pete Davidson's makeup for a Saturday Night Live skit when Ru hosted the show.

As host, she will be joined on the judges’ panel by TV presenter Daphné Bürki and musician Kiddy Smile. The presiding judges are challenged with critiquing local drag artists and finding France’s Next Drag Superstar.

According to a statement from World of Wonder, “Drag Race France” will follow a similar program to the US version of the show.

“The trio will guide the dazzling French queens each week through a variety of gag-worthy challenges and runway categories. Based on their performances each episode, the judges will choose who wins and which two will have to lip-sync for their lives to stay in the competition, for a chance to become France’s first drag superstar.”

Nicky Doll is only the second Drag Race contestant to be named the host of an international iteration of the cult drag competition series, following in the heels of Brooke Lynn Hytes of Drag Race Canada.

While a premiere date is yet to be announced, US fans can watch the show on WOW Presents Plus when it does release.
