Nicole Kidman dreams of working with drag queens on this iconic clip

Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman is dishing on her dream to collaborate with drag queens onstage for a reproduction of the infamous AMC movies advert.

“My dream will be to be onstage doing it with a drag queen,” Kidman told the ELLE of drag performers paying tribute to the famous "we make movies better" ad. “I’ve got to be able to do that at some point.”

Kidman shared that the iconic ad was filmed while in the middle of shooting “Being the Ricardos”

“It was just the desire to keep cinemas alive,” she said. “I’ve had the best experiences in cinema. I’d pretend I was going to school; I’d forge a note, and I’d go and sit in a movie theater. That’s a safe haven for me, so the idea of those not existing—that’s just not part of the equation in my lifetime.”

The ad quickly went viral on social media and was even used as material for a sketch on Saturday Night Live. It is safe to say the advertisement has become a beloved clip among the masses.

When asked about the public’s hilarious reaction to the advertisement, the actress doubled down on her love for it.

“If that’s what it takes, I’ll do whatever it takes. We have to have some more ideas for the next one.”

AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron said the ad “became part of the American zeitgeist” after announcing there would be three new ads for the cinema giant.

In a 2022 interview with Variety, Aron noted that the commercial is “the best work of [his] career.”
