The Coachella music festival is back in the Indio, California desert after a two-year hiatus and made a splash with music lovers everywhere. During the 2022 weekend event, Brazilian drag queen Pabllo Vittar made history as the first drag artist to perform at the Coachella music festival.
Vittar took some time before her performance to reflect on her achievements saying, “I never thought this day would come and it has come, thank God. I feel very happy, very blessed.
“And today I woke up very excited about this show, I just wanted to thank and say that the show is for you, for all the community, for all my fans, all my family, and all my friends,” Vittar continued.

On Saturday, Vittar stunned the audiences with an exhilarating set, even covering Lady Gaga's Chromatica song, "Fun Tonight.’
At one point, Vittar brought Rina Sawayama on stage to perform their new track, "Follow Me.” During their performance, they publicly denounced the controversial “Don’t Say Gay” bill that was recently passed in Florida.
“[They’ve] targeted queer and trans people in this country, and for some reason, they don’t want us to say the word ‘gay,’” Rina told the audience, receiving boos from the crowd. “When I say ‘say,’ you say ‘gay.’”
Vittar first emerged onstage as a teen singing in various cities around her native Brazil. While living in Uberlândia, Vittar was inspired to go into drag after being introduced to RuPaul’s Drag Race.
At just 17 years old, started performing and competing in singing contests in drag in local clubs and bars. However, she officially landed on the music radar after appearing on the popular variety show Amor e Sexo.
Since then, Vittar has released three albums in three years, singing in English, Spanish, and Portuguese; building an international fanbase.
Originally, Vittar was slated to perform at Coachella 2020. Unfortunately, the festival was canceled due to concerns over the growing number of coronavirus cases.
Other notable highlights during the weekend-long festival include Harry Styles sharing the stage with country pop singer Shania Twain, Reggaeton artist Karol G’s medley of legendary Latino artists, and an exciting set from fellow breakout Brazilian artist, Anitta.
