Peppermint documentary to be produced by Elliot Page

Since first debuting in the ninth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Peppermint has become a figurehead for LGBTQ+ activism, particularly campaigning for trans rights. Now, her life is being celebrated on the big screen.

“A Deeper Love: The Story of Miss Peppermint” will cover the performer’s early career and provide viewers a personal and in-depth look at her rise to stardom.

Actor Elliot Page and his production company, Pageboy Productions, are helping bring the doc to life. In an interview, Page praised Peppermint’s journey as “powerful, urgent, and deeply human.”

“Her artistry, courage, and advocacy have changed the landscape for trans performers and inspired so many of us,” he added. “This documentary captures the full complexity of her experience in a way that feels both intimate and universal.”

The documentary comes at a crucial and uncertain time for the transgender community. From issuing an executive order restricting access to gender-affirming care to changing transgender passport holders to gender markers to those assigned at birth, the Trump administration’s attacks on transgender people have been detrimental.

Peppermint has dedicated her life not only to her craft but also to advocating for transgender issues similar to these.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Peppermint said she was “thrilled” the documentary was ready to roll after “nearly a decade of work.”

“Trans issues are in the zeitgeist, yet our full humanity is so often left out of the conversation,” she said. “This film aims to offer something different—something more honest and personal.”

The film is set to premiere at Framline49 in San Francisco on 26 June.
