In a recent episode of Entertainment Weekly’s Quick Drag podcast, Plasma addressed show creator and star Quinta Brunson with the idea of a drag queen story hour on the Emmy-wing
“Quinta, if you’re listening, big fan! I was brought up watching documentary-style comedy and it’s something so nuanced and specific and wonderful. I have so much respect for what you do," Plasma explains of the ABC sitcom, which follows a group of teachers at the titular elementary school.
"I’m lucky enough to look exactly like your costar, Chris Perfetti, so I’m going to push my luck here and say that maybe there’s a Drag Queen Story Hour that makes its way to Abbott Elementary that I would love to be part of. I’m not trying to push a political agenda, I’m trying to offer you an idea."
She continued to share her thoughts on the possible episode by saying: “I have this strange plot line already cooking," Plasma says.
"I’m Jacob’s younger brother, we haven’t spoken in a couple years, I show up for Drag Queen Story Hour, he doesn’t recognize me, I come to school as a visitor out of drag the next day, he’s like, 'What the hell are you doing here? I never want to see you again!' and I’m like, 'Bitch, I was here yesterday!'"
The Emmy-Award wining series is a documentary-style show that follows the hectic lives of teachers and made waves among the nominations for award ceremonies last year.
Meanwhile, Plasma is fresh off the heels from being elimination from season 16 of RuPaul’s Drag Race after a great run.
Personally, we would love to see this idea come to life and have no doubt the scene would be a way to educate viewers on the need for representation and inclusion.
Watch new episodes of Abbott Elementary airing on ABC every Wednesday evening at 9 p.m. ET.
