'Queen of the Universe' announces new judge for upcoming season

Spice Girls legend Melanie Brown (AKA Scary Spice) will join the judging panel for the second season of Paramount+ drag queen singing contest Queen of the Universe.

She will join RuPaul's Drag Race judge Michelle Visage, Grammy nominee Vanessa Williams and Drag Race All-Stars winner Trixie Mattel on the judging panel. Graham Norton will also be a returning face, as the show host.

Mel’s addition will replace The X Factor winner Leona Lewis. In the past, we’ve seen the former Spice Girl take on a number of hosting gigs. You might recognize her from stints on “America’s Got Talent,” “The X Factor” UK, “Lip Sync UK” and “Dancing With the Stars” Australia.

“Queen of the Universe” follows a group of 14 singing drag queens from around the world as they competed for the title of Queen of the Universe.

The show "brings drag queens from across the globe to battle it out in a singing competition for the ages. The Queens take center stage in an over the top live singing competition to see who reigns supreme,” said the show’s official bio.

A total if fourteen queens competed in the first season of the show. However, the one who prevailed was Grag Queen, representing her home country of Brazil.

Meanwhile former American Idol finalist Ada Vox came in second and Atlanta’s own Aria B Cassadine in third. Only time will tell which queen is worthy of taking home the prize for the season two crown!

While we await more details surrounding the second season– including a potential cast announcement, you can stream the first season of “Queen of the Universe” on Paramount Plus.
