Reading is fundamental! So get the lowdown on RuPaul's new memoir

You know and love hims as the host of the hit drag competition show, now RuPaul is giving us an unfiltered glimpse into his life outside the Werkroom. 

Ru surprised fans this week with the announcement of his brand new memoir. When writing the book, he says it  left him gooped, gagged and stripped raw,”  

“After two-and-a-half years, it’s finally here. My memoir. I’m so excited and so anxious at the same time,” a tearful RuPaul said in a video posted to his Instagram page.

“Much of this world today, it feels so hostile. And it’s just a scary place to be vulnerable in but… I did it. So get ready!”

 

 

 

The House of Hidden Meanings is set to release in March 2024 and recounts the story of RuPaul’s  life, from his childhood in San Diego all the way to to his vast achievement today.

The iconic host and music artist spoke with Vogue on the memoir’s release. In the interview, RuPaul says the book with mainly be about his life before becoming the host of RuPaul’s Drag Race. 

 “I feel like I’ve kept up a poker face and held my cards close to my chest my whole life, and I still do that, because it’s a protection mechanism,” he told the publication.

When discussing the title of his book, the House of Hidden Meanings, Rupaul explained that “Underneath every story is another story that really tells you what’s going on, and I wanted it to look back on the past and uncover the hidden meaning behind each event.”

The upcoming memoir will be Ru’s fourth book to his name. Others include his 1996 autobiography Lettin It All Hang Out, his 2010 style guide Workin’ It!: RuPaul’s Guide to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Style, and his 2018 self-help guidebook GuRu.
