Rihanna's Superbowl Halftime Show honors fashion icon André Leon Talley

Rihanna's Super Bowl LVII halftime performance proved to be one for the books. The "Lift Me Up" singer's first time back on the stage in five years was a love letter to her music catalog.

The set list included bops like like "B**** Better Have My Money" and "Wild Thoughts" to career solidifying hits like "Diamonds" and "Umbrella." It was also then that she revealed to the world that she was expecting her second child.

Aside from her newly revealed baby bump, the popstar's outift also struck a cord with audiences. Clad in an oversized bright red Alaia puffer with a matching red flightsuit, Rihanna's striking ensemble was seemingly tribute to dear friend Andre Leon Talley.

Vogue editor and famed fashion journalist, Talley passed away in January 2022. According to Marie Claire, a staple piece seen in his wardrobe was his red Norma Kamali sleeping bag coat.

The official Instagram page for Talley shared images of the late writer and Barbadian singer side by side. "When the sunshines, we'll shine together. Told you I'll be here forever...said I'll always be your friend. @badgalriri"

The fashion giants had a friendship that lasted years until Talleys untimely death. Many remember their many exchanges over the years. In particular, their 2015 Met Gala interview showcased their relationship.

"You are so inspiring to so many people," said Talley to the songstress. "You are going to inspire people in this place."

While Rihanna has yet to confirm if she did in fact pay homage to her late friend, others were quick to see the resemblance. Patricia Altschul said," He will be missed by so many of us who loved him...Rihanna's tribute made me teary."

Meanwhile, Mara Brock Akiln wrote, "I knew it! And loved it! Loved that she met Andre in the sky like the diamond he is!"

"He would've been so proud tonight!" said actor Angie Harmon.
