RuPaul is adding another notch to his never ending belt of Drag Race spinoffs. The icon's latest addition? Drag Race Down Under!  The popular series, set in Australia and New Zealand, bring back RuPaul and Michelle Visage as judges.
Production for the series kicks off this week in New Zealand and is set to premiere later this year. The series will see the fiercest queens across Australia and New Zealand going head-to-head, in the hopes of taking home the title of Down Under’s first Drag Superstar.
“I cannot wait for everyone to see that Down Under queens have some of the biggest charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talents in the world,” said RuPaul. “Thank you to Stan and TVNZ OnDemand for providing a platform for these outrageous drag artists to share their heart, soul and humor.”
Unfortunately, guest judges are still undecided. But, audiences are already busy pitching their faves for the position.
"It is a reality TV show about drag performers, but there's so much more than that, because the show is about heart, this show is about the tenacity of the human spirit," said Michelle Visage in an interview with A Current Affair.
"I've been a drag fan since I was 17-years-old and I've never understood why it isn't bigger than it actually was and now thanks to RuPaul's Drag Race, these kids are getting their just dues and showing the world how talented they are and it's a gift."
RuPaul's Drag Race international success continues to grow. The news comes off the heels of announcing even more spinoffs of the popular competition show.
So far, confirmed versions of the show include: Holland, Thailanda and Spain. Additionally, a second season of the UK version recently recently aired.
“RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under” will stream exclusively on WOW Presents Plus in the U.S. and other international markets.
