RuPaul's Drag Race teases upcoming season 17

In a brand new teaser posted on social media, Drag Race production company World of Wonder announced a brand new season of the beloved franchise would be premiering in January.

“This January on MTV, a new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race is making major waves. Wetter is better, Henny,” Mama Ru declares in a voiceover, rounded off with her signature cackle.

RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Ross Mathews, and Carson Kressley are all expected to return to the judging panel.  While details like the official cast and celebrity guest judges remain unconfirmed, we hope to see these revealed sometime next month.

However, internet sleuths are already gathering intel and monitoring the whereabouts of their favorite local queens. The eagle-eyed fans have some names they think are set to be competing in the upcoming season.

Among the speculated cast are queens from across the nation. Figures like Acacia Forgot, Allonna Dee, Arrietty, Crystal Envy, and Hormona Lisa.

Jewels Sparkles, Joella, Kori King, Lana Ja’Rae, Lexi V. Love, Lucky Starzzz, Onya Nurve, and Sam Star may also make an appearance in the next season.

Casting for the upcoming season was officially opened in October. Paramount+ has greenlit a 10th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars alongside its companion series RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars: Untucked.

This year, the show helped the ACLU’s Drag Defense Fund surpass $2 million raised this year by encouraging viewers to donate with a QR code at the end of each episode. The fund aims to protect queens while also drawing attention to the anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ attacks continuing to surge across the nation.

We can't wait to see how the next season can further stretch the reach of this amazing charity.
