RuPaul's Drag Race's Gottmik cancels upcoming performances after DUI arrest

RuPaul’s Drag Race’s Gottmik has cancelled her upcoming appearances after last month’s DUI arrest.

“To everyone who was looking forward to seeing me on the upcoming Asia and Australia tour,” Gottmik begins her lengthy Instagram story on Monday.

“I was so excited to perform for you all, and I want you to know that every effort was made to find a way to make these shows happen. Unfortunately, despite those efforts, I won’t be able to move forward with my upcoming Halloween performances.

“Following a challenging period in my life, I’ve been taking time to reflect and focus on my health, personal growth, and making meaningful changes moving forward. I know that growth takes time, and I’m committed to doing the work.

“I am beyond grateful for the continued love, patience, and understanding from my fans and everyone who has supported me. Performing and connecting with you guys around the world means literally everything to me, and I can’t wait to get back to doing what I love when the time is right.”

Gottmik was arrested in Burbank, California, on September 16 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Authorities responded to a call of a black Porsche hitting multiple parked vehicles.

The talented drag artist became the first transgender man to compete on the show.  Fans first met her in season 13, and she returned for All Stars season 9. Gottmik also serves as a judge on the competition show King of Drag.
