Secret Celebrity Drag Race competition narrows as first queen is eliminated

The second season of the highly anticipated RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race is here and the competition is already narrowing with last week's elimination.

Nine celebrity contestants were chosen to compete in the second season. After last week's elimination, eight are still in the running to win.

***WARNING: SEASON SPOILERS AHEAD***

Last Friday, viewers said ‘goodbye’ to the queen Fabulosity who in reality turned out to be Loretta Devine.

The 72-year-old Emmy-winning actress is best known for her roles as Lorrell Robinson in the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls and as Gloria Matthews in the film Waiting to Exhale.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Devine detailed her experience on the Drag Race stage, saying, "I was very excited to be a part of it, but I just was devastated to be the first out.”

"You put a lot of work into it, putting together the look and learning the song, the choreography. I had a Mary J. Blige song and I said, 'If I can't do the dancing really great, I know I can fake out the singing so it'll be really good,’” she continued. “And then next thing you know you're standing on the stage and it really is hard as you see people disappear around you.”

“You go, 'Oh God, I'm still here and they're going!' You see it on the reality shows all the time but when you're the last on the stage, it hurts!"

The remaining queens will anonymously compete in weekly lip sync extravaganzas until the bottom two lip sync for their lives at the end of the episode.

In addition to the secret celebrity competition format, the show has increased the cash prize to $100,000 toward the winner’s charity of choice.

Queens like Monét X Change, Jujubee, and Brooke Lynn Hytes will serve as mentors and guides for the contestants.

When asked if Fabulosity would ever come back, Devine had a cheeky response.

“I'd do it again if Fabulosity could do it sitting down!' she joked to PEOPLE. "It was scary, but it was exciting. And my look, it was extremely dramatic. I didn't look like myself to me. When they finished with me, it was an absolute surprise. It was Fabulosity! That's what it was — it was not me!"
