Kornbread is alive, thriving, and thankful! The 31-year-old drag artist is celebrating being one-year cancer-free and losing 150 lbs. She recently shared a picture of her transformation as well as a message of being grateful for the present.
"Feels so great being able to be here a year later and I have so much to be thankful for! This past year has been INSANE! But I'm so happy to have made it out," Kornbread explained in her post that featured her before-and-after photos.
Kornbread revealed in September 2022 that she had been diagnosed with adenocarcinoma in her small intestine. While she explained her type of cancer was “absolutely curable, she urged her followers to get routine checkups while announcing her diagnosis on Instagram.
"I say this to let everyone know that no matter how young you are PLEASE GET REGULAR checkups. I'm glad I caught mine at this stage. A lot of health things will be changing for me and I'm grateful for all the support. Ready to get back to the stage again," she wrote.
The world got to know Jete when she appeared on season 14 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. While she didn’t make it all the way, she was voted Miss Congeniality.
The title was a much-deserved recognition. Proof of this comes after her positive outlook regarding her diagnosis.
"I’ve done so much in such a short time and that’s the reason I’ve kept my head up!” Kornbread said in a 2022 tweet. “Competed on Drag race, became Miss Congeniality, shared the stage and screen with such idols and even got to do ads and commercials. Cancer tried to scare me, but these are the reasons IM THRIVING.”
