Tamisha Iman announces hiatus from drag and a new career venture

Season 13 queen Tamisha Iman of RuPaul's Drag Race, shared that she will be stepping away from drag to focus on a  “new purpose” and new career venture.

The performer took to social media to explain her absence and reveal her new platform called Southern Soul Music Nation.

In addition, she also has a radio and broadcasting station dedicated to "the best in Southern Soul, Zydeco, Blues, Line Dance tracks, and down-home storytelling" called Trail Ride Radio.

The drag icon wrote in the Instagram caption:

"For over 37 years, I gave my heart, body, and soul to an industry that shaped me, saved me, and scarred me all at once. The ride was wild, beautiful, painful, and glorious. And while I saw the end coming long before it arrived, I held on… For you."

"But now, as this chapter slows to a stop, I want you to know this: I am not done. I’m just shifting lanes — from the spotlight to the studio, from performer… to producer,” Iman assured her fans.

“I’ve found a new kind of peace, a new kind of purpose — building something powerful for the next generation, and telling stories on my own terms."

Iman appeared in season 13 of Drag Race and swiftly won over fans with her witty character and courageous story of having recently defeated colon cancer.

Ultimately, the queen came in 11th place but gave us some iconic lines, including the infamous, "I SAID what I SAID," while in an argument with Kandy Muse.

The popular entertainer reaffirmed in her post that the step back “... isn’t goodbye. It’s just ‘See you soon.’”
