This Drag Race UK queen had to quit the competition after knee injury

Drag Race UK just kicked off season 6. However, one drag artist has had to leave the show prematurely.  Australian drag queen Saki Yew had to leave the show due to a knee injury.

Much to the competition's surprise, Saki entered The Werk Room on crutches in the season's second episode to tell the rest of the contestants the bad news and let them know she would be forfeiting the competition.

“I hurt my knee quite bad, so it hurts to walk.” The Australian queen explained that the injury occurred after she slipped while “getting into the shower… and knocked my knee onto the wall."

“I’m actually going to say goodbye to you. I’m gutted because it’s not the way I wanted to leave, but I have to be smart about this and really just look after my body.”

“I can hardly walk. There’s a lot of swelling,” said Saki about how they were feeling after the injury, “No walking, no running, no dancing, and no heels.”

“This is my decision. I have to repair and heal. It was short, but it was just amazing to be [in] season 6 with these sisters.”

After leaving, fellow Filipina queen Zahirah Zapanta shared her dismay to see Saki leave the competition. Saki and Zahirah are the first queens of Filipino descent in the UK drag franchise.

"It's just so heartbreaking and I'm going to miss my Filipino sister so much," she said.

However, fans may not have to wait long to see Saki back on the main stage. “That’s something you’re going to have to wait and see. Just keep your eyes peeled – you’ll see me somewhere,” she said, adding: “If there was a phone call from RuPaul, I would answer it and report for duty,” she added.

Here’s to Saki’s speedy recovery and potential return to Drag Race UK!
