Kylie Jenner recently announced the release of the Kylie Cosmetics Valentines Day Collection. Set to launch on Feb. 3, the limited-edition collection consists of a 12-pan eyeshadow palette, a pair of false eyelashes, two matte lip kits, a highlighter, three blush sticks, a lip gloss set, and a lip balm set.
Amid teaser photos posted from the brand's official Instagram page, followers got a closer look at each of the products.
Many couldn't help but notice some of the packaging looked very similar to Trixie Cosmetics’ signature heart-shaped theme–including Mattel herself!
In fact, Trixie addressed the situation via a cheeky TikTok. In it, Mattel pauses before applying her lip gloss after seeing an Instagram post by TRENDMOOD showing the new Kylie Cosmetics drop.

“Kylie I’m calling the police,” Trixie's caption reads. She also reposted the clip on Instagram and Twitter claiming she is “breaking my silence and addressing the situation.”
Mattel, best known for her run on season seven of RuPaul's Drag Race and winner of All-Stars three launched Trixie Cosmetics in 2019. The brand upholds a consistent Barbiecore theme complete with bright pigments and iconic heart-shaped packaging.
Fans were quick to voice their opinion on the matter. A recent Kylie Cosmetics post is full of comments calling out the similarities. Some even bring up the fact it isn't the first time that Jenner is accused of ripping off other queer artists including another Drag Race alum Kim Chi.
When she fully copied, almost verbatim, @KimChi_Chic and @adamouhamane photo shoot, to use for her Stormi makeup collection. You can say a lot of people use mirrors In Photoshoots - but not like this, and not this identical. It’s just plagiarism - PERIOD, @KylieJenner pic.twitter.com/kCys1qdYDd— lyle (@Lylexxxx) January 28, 2022
One social media user commented, “@trixiemattel did it better :) get your own ideas”.
“I call this ‘how to lose your gay customers in a single launch’ posted another.
Fellow drag artist Detox showed support for Mattel by commenting “Yay! More thievery!” under a separate promo for Jenner’s Valentine's day launch.
