Trixie Mattel announces split from longtime partner David Silver

RuPaul's Drag Race star Trixie Mattel and boyfriend David Silver have split. The unfortunate news broke after Mattel posted a YouTube video on Monday, Dec. 30, confirming that the couple, who met in 2016, had separated after eight years of dating.

"Some of you have kind of figured it out, speculated for a while, but David and I separated quite some time ago now," Mattel said.

"It feels like you people who know me but don't really know me in real life are the last people to know about it. Everybody in my world has known about it for quite some time."

According to the star, the couple had been seperated even before Trixie’s voluntary social media and career break earlier this year. Over the years,  fans have seen the two work together on various videos and projects throughout Trixie's career.

Trixie continued to tell viewers that the breakup wasn't “salacious” and that “it just happened.”

“It was a very long relationship and a lot of parts of it will always make me very happy… it just feels like I haven’t told you fine people, and it’s very old news now, in a way,”

“I got the privilege of making shows, and telling you guys a compelling love story in my life, and it felt disappointing to not be able to, like, make good on that,” Trixie continued.

She continued to express her love for David saying, “I will always care about that person. I love our motel. I love all of our business ventures,”

“Being creative together, with him, was especially one of the heights of my life. You know, all my exes, everybody I’ve ever been with, [they don't] really leave my orbit. I really, still always care about these people… and, like I said, it’s not fresh information.”
