“RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” Season 3 winner Trixie Mattel is set to return as the host of “Drag Race’s” Season 16 weekly recap show, “The Pit Stop.”
The show consists of Mattel and a guest reviewing each episode of “Drag Race” Season 16 and sharing some commentary and critiques. “The Pit Stop” airs on the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” YouTube channel each Saturday.
“Making snap judgments is my passion but I also love enduring characters that develop and grow (while dressed as women),” Mattel said in a statement to Variety. “I also love drama.”
Much to the fan's approval, “Drag Race” returns to its 90-minute format this season. News of the names of the new queens competing for the Season 16 title of America’s Drag Superstar was announced last week. The sreturns to TV screens on January 5.
Contestants include Amanda Tori Meating, Dawn, Geneva Karr, Hershii LiqCour-Jeté, Megami, Mhi’ya Iman Le’Paige, Mirage, Morphine Love Dion, Nymphia Wind, Plane Jane, Plasma, Q, Sapphira Cristál and Xunami Muse.
In a surprise twist, the queens will have to rank their fellow queens to determine the tops and bottoms of the week. The change is bound to spice up the competition.
RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Carson Kressley, and Ross Mathews will all return as mainstay judges. Meanwhile, the season has a star-studded roster of guest judges. The list includes Sarah Michelle Gellar, Adam Shankman, Icona Pop, Isaac Mizrahi, Kaia Gerber, Kyra Sedgwick, Law Roach, Ronan Farrow and Charlize Theron.
