Tyra Sanchez, formerly known as King Tyra, is updating fans on her new name and possibly hinting at a return to the drag scene.
On Saturday, November 16, the official @thatdamntyra profile on X/Twitter wrote: "Drop the King, just call me Tyra."
A Tyra shared a similar message via the official Instagram page from @thatdamtyra: "Message. Not Queen. Not King. Just Tyra."
Serial Drag Race fans may remember Tyra from the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
She was instantly a fan favorite of the season and ultimately took home the crown and title. She beat out other notable competitors like Raven and Jujubee.
However, the relationship between Tyra Drag Race has infamous went south after winning his season.
In 2017, Tyra posted a Facebook post claiming fellow season 2 queen Morgan McMichaels had passed away. But it wasn't long after the post, shared by Drag Race season two winner Tyra Sanchez, went up that it was deduced that the entire thing was a lie.
A year later, some Drag Race fans reported Sanchez to the FBI and LAPD after she seemingly made threats against that year’s DragCon.
“Fair warning: DO NOT attend RuPaul’s DragCon on May 12, 2018,” the former winner wrote on Facebook. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
Things were looking up for Tyra after he apologized to fans for his behavior in recent years after a few arrests. He took a few years away from the public eye. But a new drag name and coming projects doesnt mean Tyra fans should expect the queen back on the hit reality competition any time soon.
“If you are here because you have hopes that I will one day return to a show I clearly expressed abused and misused me, then leave now. Go directly away now. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200,” wrote the disgraced queen back in March.
“You are part of the problem and you are a problem. Stop wasting wishes and prayers on something that’s not ever going to happen. Keep your hopes to yourself or enjoy the block.”
