Upcoming Drag Race Philippines star Misua has passed away during filming

Drag Race Philippines star Misua ( who goes by Jayson Elvie Ty outside of drag) passed away in her sleep on Thursday morning.

She was in the middle of filming the upcoming season of Drag Race Philippines season four and was just  27 years old.

While no cause of death has been officially revealed, the show’s production company, World of Wonder, confirmed the news in a tragic post to Instagram.

"We are heartbroken to share that Misua, a talented Queen set to appear on season four of Drag Race Philippines, passed away in her sleep the morning of April 2. She brought light, artistry, and joy to those around her, and she will be deeply missed."

The post went on to say production for the season has been paused “to care for and support our cast and crew during this incredibly difficult time.”

The young queen was from Cagayan de Oro and reveled in artistry, which was largely inspired by fashion and authentic self-expression.

According to her bio, her name comes from a noodle dish of the same name and was an ode to her love of her grandfather’s comfort food.

“A graphic designer by profession and a performer for eight years, she was known for creating nearly every aspect of her drag herself — from her outfits, hair, and nails to props and visual content — reflecting her extraordinary creativity and eye for detail,” the bio described Misua.

Misua’s family also shared a tribute of their own on social media, writing on Facebook: “Jayson was our dearly loved son, brother, friend, mentor, and most of all, Jayson is a star.

“He will be greatly missed by his loving family and close friends.”

Plenty of Drag Race stars have penned words of comfort amid the star's untimely passing. Michelle Visage wrote, "Sending so much love. "

“Devastating! Sending all my love to everyone involved,” wrote “Drag Race UK” contestant Blu Hydrangea.

Also paying tribute, RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under’s Hannah Conda, commented, “Absolutely heartbreaking! My thoughts are with my Filo family. I love you all and sending my love! She was an absolute star!”
